Renault Facebook “Likes” in real life

First of all Yes it is a Rip-Off, Coca Cola does the same technology in their summer village last year. But for me it’s absolutely ok to transfer a mechanic to another industry or client. So let’s see first what Coca Cola does last year:

In The Netherlands Renault has recently introduced the possibility of “liking” real objects offline immediately sharing the preference also online on the person Facebook wall. At the AutoRAI Motorshow they handed out RFID-equipped smartcards at their stand allowing visitors to Connect with their profiles. From there, if the visitor liked a Renault car he could simply swipe the card in front of a reader and automatically share the preference on his profile.

See the video for more details:

RFID with social media is a great idea. But please exploit it at full. Be creative with it, deliver great consumers experiences. If you don’t provide value to me then why should I share with my friends the fact that I like your brand and your products?
