Experiments in Motion is a research initiative conducted by the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation in partnership with Audi of America to develop and test new paradigms in the relationship between motion, mobility and design. The program draws from global thought leaders from around the university, architecture and design professionals, and an expanded network of urban mobility experts from New York City and Audi.

“The courage to change ways of thinking and to question what exists is a decisive prerequisite for permanent progress and is the core of the AUDI corporate culture. This is why we have set up the Audi Urban Future Initiative, in order to draw attention to and press ahead along routes to a sustainable and responsible future.”

Rupert Stadler, chairman of the board of AUDI AG

The Audi Urban Future Initiative consists of four pillars: Award, Summit, Insight and Research.
The Initiative aims to establish a dialogue on the synergy of mobility, architecture and urban development by means of a view into the future.

It is interesting how transportation brands start thinking loud about their place in the future. After BMW and their effort in electric cars and innovation, now Audi established a platform as a theoretical base for their engineering innovations. While this was done behind closed doors in the past, now collaboration and partizipation starts becoming an essential part of the further development. Its not only about PR and branding reasons, but its also a content topic. Highquality, valuable branded content can be produced throught the whole time. Brands are not limited to product launches and specific product campaigns.
